Extensive mechanized canal clearing is being carried out in the canals of the National Irrigation Administration-Addalam River Irrigation System (NIA-ADRIS) since February 3, 2025, to ensure the smooth flow of water to farmlands.
The clearing operations focus on eliminating obstructions like silt, overgrown grass, and debris that may disrupt water distribution and monitoring. Advanced equipment is being utilized to accelerate the clearing process of ADRIS’ main and lateral canals.
This initiative significantly benefits farmers in the provinces of Quirino and Isabela, particularly during the ongoing dry season. The Agency encourages continued collaboration from Irrigators’ Associations (IAs) in keeping waterways clean and fully functional. The canal clearing is part of NIA's regular maintenance program, aimed at ensuring efficient irrigation services and enhancing farmers’ crop yields.
