MONITORING AND READING OF ALTERNATE WETTING & DRYING MEASURING WELL CONTINUES

The monitoring and reading of the Alternate Wetting & Drying (AWD) measuring well were conducted at the National Irrigation Administration-Addalam River Irrigation System (NIA-ADRIS) service area in collaboration with co-operators (ADRIS Farmers) on February 11-13, 2025.

The AWD technique is a cutting-edge farming approach designed to conserve water while sustaining rice yields. The Operations & Maintenance personnel of NIA Quirino Irrigation Management Office (QIMO) together with the Farmers, consistently monitor the field’s water levels, a crucial step in ensuring effective irrigation management. This initiative is part of continuous efforts to promote sustainable agriculture and support farmers in enhancing their productivity.

Farmers are continuously encouraged to adopt AWD technology to sustain adequate water for the dry cropping season and maintain soil health. These efforts are crucial in addressing agricultural needs while preserving natural resources for long-term sustainability.
