The First Quarter General Assembly Meeting of the Samahang Magpapatubig sa Lambak ng Cagayan, Inc. (SMLCI) convened at the 3/F National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Regional Office II Conference Hall, Brgy. Camasi, Peñablanca, Cagayan today.
"Napintas a venue daytuy General Assembly Meeting iti SMLCI tapno mapagsaritaan tayo dagiti plans and programs iti asosasyon ken maipakaammo met dagiti plano ken programa iti NIA nga maiyasideg kadakayo,” (“This meeting is a great opportunity for us to discuss SMLCI’s plans and programs, while also learning about NIA’s upcoming projects that will benefit our members,”) Division Manager of Engineering and Operations Engr. Orlando R. Espejo said during his message.
Engr. Espejo added, "Arapaap ni Administrator Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen nga maaddaan iti Cooperatives dagiti mannalon tapno agnam-ay ti panagbiag dagituy. Aglalo dituy Cagayan ken Isabela, nalawa ti area tayo ket daydiay benepisyo na, mapan met lang kadagiti member-farmers isu nga itultuloy tayo daytuy cooperative tayo.” ("Administrator Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen envisions the establishment of farmer cooperatives to improve their livelihood. Especially here in Cagayan and Isabela, where we have vast agricultural areas, the benefits of these cooperatives will directly reach member-farmers. That is why we must continue and strengthen this cooperative initiative.")
This quarterly meeting, facilitated by the Institutional Development Section under the leadership of Community Relations Chief Dr. Nenita P. Garcia, brought together Irrigators' Association officials across Region 2 and Irrigators Development Officers (IDOs) from various Irrigation Management Offices (IMOs), serves as a platform for collaboration and reinforce the strong partnership between SMLCI and NIA, ensuring that irrigation programs continue to empower and uplift farmers’ lives in the region.
