INTENSIFYING INNOVATION TO IMPROVE AGRICULTURE SYSTEM MANAGEMENT AND ACHIEVE FOOD SECURITY

PEÑABLANCA, Cagayan—Grounded to “INNOVATION” as one of the Core Values of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), Administrator Engr. Eduardo Eddie Guillen's initiative to integrate and embrace technology as a tool in enhancing agricultural system management and achieving food security has been strengthened and is now becoming a reality.

Solar-Powered Pump Irrigation Projects emerged as a sustainable solution to address challenges in agriculture, particularly in areas with limited access to electricity or where traditional irrigation systems rely on costly and polluting fossil fuels.

With the leadership of Engr. Raymundo B. Apil, Regional Manager of NIA Region II supported by the Engineering & Operations Division Manager Engr. Orlando R. Espejo, the Equipment Management Section led by Engr. Reymund N. Cayari, Principal Engineer C, in partnership with the Agro-Industrial Innovative Ltd., member of LR Group, conducted an Orientation on Solar Pumping Irrigation System Design, Construction, Operation and Maintenance held earlier today at the NIA Regional Office II, 3/F Conference Room.

Attended by the Section Chiefs and personnel from the Planning & Design, Operations, Construction Management, Institutional Development and Equipment Management regionwide, Mr. Koren Tzur served as the Learning Service Provider and imparted his expertise on the subject matter. The LSP discussed the installation guide, design, operation, key features and long-term free maintenance of the Solar-Powered Pumps Irrigation Projects with advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI), Satellite Monitoring and Control. It is indeed a success to know that the knowledge acquired by the participants will be used in executing their functions with finest public service to effectively cater the irrigation needs of the Filipino Farmers.
