Field Validation Conducted for the Proposed Surface Pumps in Alfonso Castañeda

ALFONSO CASTAÑEDA, Nueva Vizcaya – The National Irrigation Administration – Nueva Vizcaya Irrigation Management Office (NIA-NVIMO) conducted a field validation of proposed the locations of five (5) CY 2024 Solar Pump Irrigation Projects for implementation on February 6-7, 2025.

The activity was in response to the previous georesistivity survey results that indicated the absence of sufficient groundwater sources in the area. As a result, the team shifted its focus to identifying viable surface water sources for the planned solar-powered irrigation systems.

The validation team from Planning, Design, and Survey worked alongside representatives from the Irrigators Association (IA) to conduct activities such as the assessment of potential surface water sources that could be tapped for irrigation, discharge measurements to evaluate the water flow rate and sustainability of the identified sources, and coordination with local stakeholders to ensure that the pumps align with the needs of local farmers.

The findings from the field validation will help determine the feasibility of installing surface pumps, ensuring a stable water supply for agricultural use. Further technical assessments and planning will follow based on the collected data to finalize the implementation of the proposed irrigation systems.
