Ceremonial Inauguration and Turnover of Solar Pumps Irrigation Project to Biga Oriental Farmers Association, Inc.

Despite existing weather conditions, the ceremonial Inauguration and Turnover of the P10-million Solar Pump Irrigation Project was conducted today at Brgy. Biga Oriental, Sto. Tomas, Isabela.

This successful project of NIA Region II Isabela Irrigation Management Office (IMO) in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) composed of four (4) units solar power pumps for the 31 farmer beneficiaries of Biga Oriental Farmers Association, Inc. Funded under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program-Irrigation Component (CARP-IC), this project can irrigate a total of 20 hectares farmland.

Engr. Edison L. Tolentino (Division Manager, NIA Isabela IMO) emphasized that solar energy is a reliable source, environmental friendly and cost efficient to farmers since it’s inexhaustible and renewable. On the other hand, Engr. Orlando R. Espejo (Engineering & Operations Division Manager, NIA Regional Office 02) encouraged the beneficiaries to unite in taking care of the project. With overflowing joy and gratitude, IA President Ebenizer Manuel accepted the project gracefully assuring that they will work hard for the operation and maintenance of this project to promote welfare and income of the farmers.

Hon. Domer Cullado Sr. (Brgy. Captain, Biga Oriental); Hon. Antonio Manalo Talaue Sr. (Municipal Mayor) represented by Engr. Moises B. Arquero; Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO II) of DAR, Engr. Eunomio P. Israel, Jr.; and Engr. Andres Cafugauan on behalf of Mr. Samuel S. Solomero (OIC-Regional Director, DAR) graced the momentous event.
